The May Crime Scene

Residential Burglary.  There were twenty-five (25) residential burglaries during the month of May.  Crime Analysis information revealed a small cluster of these crime in the northeast portion of the city near the Story Park/Lindaraxa Park areas.  Historically, residential burglaries have a tendency to go up during periods of warm weather when homeowners are more likely to leave their windows open to "cool down the house".  Keep this in mind when you leave your home unattended and then take the time to shut, and lock, all windows!

Theft from Vehicles.  I'm beginning to sound like a broken record on this one!  For the fourth month in a row, vehicle burglaries have been the #1 reported crime in Alhambra.  PLEASE prevent a crime!  Don't leave purses, cell phones, laptops, gps devices, and other items of value visible through your car's windows.  It is just way to temping for thieves who just cannot seem to pass up the opportunity to take stuff by simply breaking into a car.    It is better that you remove these items from vehicle and take them with you, or lock them in the trunk, when you leave your car unattended.

Overall Alhambra's crime rate is down over 19% for the year.  Calls for police service are up 11.49% and arrests are up nearly 8%.  This is an outstanding illustration how Alhambra pride and citizen involvement in Alhambra's Neighborhood Watch, and other crime prevention programs, helps police respond to criminal acts and reports of suspicious persons and activities.  Working together as a team is the reason we can boast a sustained reduction in crime in our beautiful city.

Nightout The Alhambra Night Out Against Crime

We had such a good time last year that we are doing it again...and we want you to be there!  I'm talking about the Alhambra Night Out Against Crime which will take place on Tuesday, August 3, from 6 to 9 pm at the Granada Park Little League Baseball Field.  Why the baseball field?  Because one of the greatest sports rivalries in Southern California happens right here in Alhambra when the Alhambra Little League players take on the Alhambra Police Officers in a "friendly" game of baseball.  The winners of the 2009 match-up was - you guessed it - the Little Leaguers so this years meeting is a "grudge match" and the Officers are determined to make their come back!  Come watch an exciting game that promises homeruns, amazing catches, stolen bases, and outstanding pitching....from the Little Leaguers!

In addition to the baseball game, there will be information and demonstrations relating to crime prevention, child safety, neighborhood watch, internet safety, and other Alhambra Police Deparment family safety programs - plus food, fun, and a chance to win valuable prizes.  (All proceeds from the snack bar will benefit the little leaguers of the Alhambra American Little League).

Bring your family and neighbors to Granada Park, on Tuesday, August 3 - everyone will have an enjoyable evening and it will demonstrate our dedication - residents and police alike - to make Alhambra the safest community in Southern California.
