Crime%2520scene The July Crime Scene

Residential Burglaries:
Crime Analysis reveals a number of daytime residential and garage burglaries since June 25th.  While the incidents are occurring citywide, western Alhambra neighborhoods have experienced the majority of the incidents.  Burglars are targeting residences on or near the main thoroughfares i.e., Atlantic Boulevard, Fremont Avenue, Garfield Avenue, Main Street, Mission Road and Valley Blvd., and residences near the San Bernardino Freeway.  In two incidents the burglars stole large screen televisions.  In another case, a stove, refrigerator and washer/dryer combo were stolen from a residence.  While the majority of the incidents occurred at single family dwellings, the suspects are also targeting apartments, townhomes, duplexes, and both attached and detached garages.  Most entries were made through open windows.  In a few cases, windows were smashed.
Suspect and vehicle descriptions include the following:

June 30  -  2900 Blk W. Norwood.  Male, Black, 20 to 25 years, 5-7, 140lbs, short Afro.  Vehicle is a 2007 -2008, cream colored, unknown make SUV with chrome grill.

July 6 - 1000 S. Chapel.  Male, Black, 20's, 5-6, 130lbs, tattoo on neck and burn scar.  Vehicle is a beige/white Toyota or Lexus, four doors.

July 7 - 1600 S. Primrose.  Male, Hispanic, 35 to 40 years old, 5-8.  Vehicle is a older model green and white cargo van.  Medi-Star Transport written on the van.

Auto Theft:  Between June 25th and July 9th, thirteen auto thefts occurred in the City of Alhambra.  The majority of the stolen vehicles were Japanese makes, 1990 to 1997 model years.  Auto theives are suspected of using "shaved keys".  Three suspected auto thieves were arrested and charged.

Thefts and Vehicle Burglaries:  Wherever you park your car, be sure your valuables are out of sight - preferably locked in the trunk! (Try your best to place valuables in the trunk before you get to your destination so you are not doing so in sight of thieves working a particular parking lot).  Car burglars are smashing car windows to get to purses, laptops, gps devices, and just about everything else of value.

Neighborhood Watch Note

Neighborhood Watchers should be aware of callers at your door, and also at your neighbors door's.  Burglars will often knock, ring doorbells, and look inside windows to see if anyone is home.  If the door is answered, they have some innocent story, like  looking for someone or needing directions, when really they are just trying to see if anyone is home.  If no one answers, then they start looking for a way to get inside the residence.  Treat all strangers at your door as suspicious and call the police if you suspect they are up to no good!
