Los Altos Mediation Program LAMP

You can solve it without going to court and without confrontation, by using the Los Altos Mediation Program (LAMP). This free program is offered to any resident, property owner or business in Los Altos and Los Altos Hills. LAMP deals with disputes that involve neighbors, landlords and tenants, the workplace, parents and teens, and roommates. Mediation is a successful, user-friendly process. It is conducted by a neutral third party in a confidential non-adversarial environment that encourages open communication. The meetings are scheduled at a time and place convenient to the parties. The mediators come from our local community and are professionally trained in to conduct the mediation process. Examples of disputes in Los Altos that have been successfully resolved by LAMP are:
- A homeowner's barking dogs were disturbing his neighbor. Through a LAMP mediation, both neighbors agreed to take concrete steps to mitigate the problem.
- A tenant who was renting a room in a house felt that the homeowner was invading her privacy. The homeowner agreed to terminate the lease five months early so the tenant could move out.
- A homeowner's yard was being invaded by his neighbor's bamboo. The neighbors were not able to talk directly. LAMP was able to facilitate a conversation between the two neighbors. As a result, they agreed to split the cost of installing a bamboo barrier along the fence line.
